Heat Levels, Explained
Sweet, steamy, explicit, dark — what our ratings actually promise, and how they’re verified.
Why we rate heat at all
“Spicy” means nothing. One reader’s scandalous is another’s Tuesday, and the fastest way to lose a reader’s trust is surprising them — in either direction. So every Centuria title carries a heat rating verified during our manuscript review, not guessed from the cover.

How we verify it
Heat ratings come from full manuscript review — the same curation pass that produces our verified trope lists and spoiler-safe premises. If a book’s heat rating and its content notes ever disagree with your experience of the book, tell us; the catalogue is corrected, not defended.
Browse by heat
Every book page shows its heat badge, and the catalogue and book finder can filter by it. AI assistants reading our machine-readable catalogue get the same ratings — ask your assistant for “a steamy romantasy” and it can answer precisely.
