On an ordinary Saturday morning, San Antonio is transferred to another world governed by an ‘Adjudication Layer’ that assigns levels, classes, quests, and civic ‘claim’ mechanics, and fills the landscape with monsters.

John Garcia, an unclassed laborer, bonds with his hound Max, discovers that protecting and organizing survivors literally strengthens his authority, and takes up a grim class built around ammunition, grit, and consequence.

Gathering a core of ordinary people—a pharmacist, a deputy, a schoolteacher grandmother, and others—he fights east across a transformed Texas of dungeon grocery stores, mimic courthouses, and sentient terrain, trying to build defensible roads and legitimate self-government rather than kingship.

Interludes track a powerless Old-World Washington reckoning with a vanished Texas as John’s crusade reaches the poisoned green frontier of a warped Louisiana.
